WELCOME TO OUR CLASSROOM!
Our classroom consists of twenty-four enthusiastic friends. Throughout the year, we will focus on the six character traits (respect, responsibility, citizenship, carting, trustworthiness, and fairness). Houghton-Mifflin is the reading program used at Mississippi Heights. Children have many opportunities to work on reading throughout the day. This may be in the form of literacy centers, guided reading, whole group instruction, and working with partners. Our math program is called Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt. Some of the focus areas in math are identifying shapes, creating patterns sorting and identifying coins and their values, counting (forward and backwards), and reading & writing numerals. We will practice good manuscript penmanship using upper and lowercase letters.
